Rebel with a Rake is a movement powered by everyday action. Through outdoor makeovers, smarter choices, and uplifting stories, we show how people everywhere can build resilience, strengthen communities, and spark real change. With humor, heart, and practical ideas, host Michelle Yahn proves action for a better planet is not only doable, but joyful and worth joining. Michelle Yahn is a guerilla gardener, zero-waste consultant and master composter with a certificate in permaculture, Human Ecology, and Regenerative Design from PINA. As an educator, director, and producer she has a deep-rooted passion for the arts, education, and environmental activism.

Michelle served on the Silver Lake Green Committee under Eric Garcetti and directed Pasadena Waldorf School’s first Green Elves Faire in 2006. She also led the Cine Women Screening Series, produced the Sony Classics film Whatever, and hosted The Silverlake Rant, an alternative comedy show she ran for a decade.

Her dedication to education spans nearly a decade in the Los Angeles Unified School District and a role as a drama teacher at Santa Cruz Waldorf School. Her work has earned multiple honors, including the 2012 Santa Cruz Volunteer Award for zero-waste events and two Drama-Logue Awards.

With a career bridging theater, film, education, and sustainability, Michelle remains committed to fostering meaningful cultural and artistic experiences.

Ellin Baumel, Executive Producer of Rebel with a Rake is an award-winning television and film producer with decades of experience and a dedication to socially conscious storytelling. 

 

She founded Nasturtium Films to create impactful series and documentaries centered on sustainability and climate solutions. Previously, she served as supervising Producer for National Geographic’s Emmy-winning Years of Living Dangerously, TV series Netflix’s Bobby Kennedy for President and all 4 seasons of the weekly news and documentary series Axios on HBO, and Produced several documentaries including the Emmy-nominated HBO films Becoming Mike Nichols and Larry Kramer in Love and Anger.

 

She has served as a Consultant on various film and television projects including; Dawn Porter's Deadlocked; How America Shaped the Supreme Court for Showtime, Eyes on the Prize for HBO and Number One on the Callsheet for Apple.

Henriette is an Emmy-award winning writer, director, actress and former stand-up comedian. Her extensive directing experiences include the documentary “An Unreasonable Man” where she was short-listed for an Academy Award. Her television writing and directing credits include “The Osbournes”, “The Awful Truth w/Michael Moore”, “24”, HBO’s “The Comeback”, and “House Hunters International.”

 

She has written/directed/starred in several web series as well as short films. Her favorites being “In the Middle” with Kevin Meaney and “Midge and Buck” with her desperate felines. Henriette co-wrote actress Teri Garr’s memoir “Speedbumps,” and edited a book of essays titled “No Kidding” where comedians wrote about not becoming mothers and was followed by her hosting stage performances of live readings at stages in many cities.

 

Her work has appeared all over the country including Sundance Film Festival, Aspen Comedy Festival and in over 500 movie theaters across the country.
